And back to Mongolia

Sorry my pictures have been jumping around all over the place. I just threw a bunch in a file to sort out the pics I actually wanted to post and now they are all jumbled in there resulting in a very chronologically confused blog. Just to clear things up...the Temple of Heaven is in fact in Beijing, not Dongbei. However this picture was taken in Inner Mongolia (which is in Dongbei...Dongbei is just northeast China yall, incase I forgot to mention that). Anyways, this is a Mongol man riding a Mongolian horse. I found the horses in the region to be very interesting, they are significantly smaller than horses I have seen in the West and they are also very disobedient. Additionally, they all looked super mangy, like frothing-at-the-mouth-choppy-manes-and-patchy-fur mangy. Despite their appearance, you could tell they were powerful, strong-willed creatures. The people belonging to the Mongol ethnic minority in China are known for their impressive horse riding skills, but even with years of experience even the men couldn't keep their ponies happy. It seemed the horses just did whatever the hell they wanted to, and really their makeshift reigns were more for keeping the rider on the horse rather than suggesting how the horse might act when he is carrying a rider. They constantly reared up, stomped in circles, shook their heads, and generally behaved like angsty teenagers.
